Let’s Get Meditated

I am super thankful for the awesomeness that is MEDITATION! I have been meditating unknowingly (and at times incorrectly) for years but intentionally for about three years. Being stressed and not adequately managing that stress, contributed to elevated blood pressure, headaches and bouts of anxious moments which led me to seek relief. Permanent relief. For years I had relied heavily on sprints for stress elimination; however, that method was not always easily assessable. It is not easy to jump up from my desk during the work day and run sprints lol. So finding a way to ease my mind and calm my emotions was essential. My first thoughts of meditation was what is this woo-woo stuff / how in the world am I going to be able to sit still and be quiet / I have too much going on

Liver Flushed

Cleansing is a part of living that I find to be an important undertaking. The discipline and mental stamina need is no joke. With that being said, this week I completed a liver and gallbladder cleanse (flush). I have done many cleanses in the past; however, not one that focused specifically on the liver and gallbladder. For some reason I really like the liver and try to do what I can to love on it (check out a post I wrote previously). Here are a few reasons I decided to do this cleanse: I have never done one The liver processes toxins, eliminating them from the body and needs some love and support The gallbladder is responsible for breaking down fats and oils in the body and I want it to function properly A liver and gallbladder cleanse / detox

Guest Blogger

On April 14th, I was featured as a guest blogger on Aliwazas.com. Aliwaza’s seeks to renormalize alternative self-care by engaging people regardless or race, color, ethnicity, sexual orientation, gender identity, religion, etc. They believe that through encouraging women to take a more active role in their mental, physical and spiritual health, they are doing a small part in healing the world. To be a part of this community and share a piece of KhadijahRBz is an honor. For the post I wrote about perfectionism. Below is an excerpt: Something I have observed about perfection is it has the capability of keeping us in a place of negativity. How so you ask? Because we are constantly feeling bad about not being ‘perfect.’ Constantly feeling as though we are inadequate because we have not reached this state of perfection. Hence, always falling

Queens United

What is the month of March all about? NO, not basketball – WOMEN. WOMBMEN. QUEENS! March 8 = International Women’s Day. The month of March is recognized as Women’s History Month because, according to the National Women’s History Project, women’s history was virtually an unknown topic in the K-12 curriculum or in general public consciousness. To address this situation, the Education Task Force of the Sonoma County (California) Commission on the Status of Women initiated a “Women’s History Week” celebration for 1978. The week of March 8th, International Women’s Day, was chosen as the focal point of the observance. What was once a day, then a week, has evolved into a month BUT our goal should be to celebrate ourselves and each other DAILY. Sooo in honor of this month and the beauty of all that we are as wombmen,

Straight from the Heart

Let me tell you up front, this post comes from the heart… straight up (like Paula, ha!). Every day we are given the opportunity to make choices. Choices that impact our lives and the lives of those around us. Those choices are as simple as our outfit of the day to something as complex as deciding between a job here or there. However, when choosing what to eat each day, the same level of thought we put into our clothing selection or job choice, is not imposed. We often go with what we have a ‘taste’ for or what we ‘feel’ like having. More often than not the decisions made on that criteria leads to the outcomes I am going to share. Heart health is important to me on so many levels. The condition of our heart from a physical

For the Record…

All vegans are not healthy. There I said it. And believe it or not, it is true. Although the abstinence of meat is better for the body, if you are not making wise food choices your health is not improving. Many people elect to go vegan to save the planet and / or spare the lives of precious animals, which is greatly appreciated; however, little research is done and there is just a replacement of meat with processed substitutes laden with additives, chemicals, and other toxic fillers that are just as harmful as (and in some cases moreso than) meat. [Do you know the effects of butylated hydroxyanisole, butylated hydroxytoluene, sodium nitrite, nitrate, brominated vegetable oil, genetically modified organisms, monosodium glutamate (MSG) and so many others??!!??!] As a melaninated, plant-based, wellness advocate (yes to ALL of that) I enjoy helping

Be WHOLE

In this age that we live in everyone is seeking something – happiness, peace, financial stability, health, love… you name it. The interesting thing is we already have all of these things, so looking in places outside of ourselves to find them will only lead us on a wild goose chase. The key is to find wholeness within one’s self. Whole is defined as being in an unbroken or undamaged state; in one piece; entire, complete, full, uninjured, unharmed. If we are whole we are what we need because we are complete. Wholeness is mind, body and spirit [May the God who gives us peace make you holy in every way and keep your whole being—spirit, soul, and body—free from every fault at the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ.Thessalonians 5:23 GNT]. Each of these aspects should be insync in

Kidney Beaned…

In a previous blog, we touched on the liver and how it contributes to our overall health AND emotions. In this post we are going to take it a little lower and chat about the kidneys. From a western perspective the kidneys handle the processing and filtration functions in the body. The National Institutes of Health (NIH) describes the kidneys as two bean-shaped organs, each about the size of a fist. They are located just below the rib cage, one on each side of the spine. Every day, the two kidneys filter about 120 to 150 quarts of blood to produce about 1 to 2 quarts of urine, composed of wastes and extra fluid. The urine flows from the kidneys to the bladder through two thin tubes of muscle called ureters, one on each side of the bladder. The bladder
