So you have made the decision to ‘get healthy’. You have a refrigerator full of fruits and veggies and you have enrolled at a gym – you’re good to go, right? WRONG! Have you taken a moment to write the vision for this journey? What about your thoughts toward the changes you are making – are they positive, negative, or neutral?
Often when we make the decision to ‘become healthy’ we focus solely on food and exercise without giving thought to what we think about (meditate on) and who we allow in our space. Ex: If there is someone in our life who only appears when they have drama going on and drain us of the life and peace that we have, that is going to affect our health. If we are always thinking the worst about every thing and that nothing is ever gonna go our way – guess what – those thoughts are going to affect our health. What we think and say about ourselves and others shapes the reality of our health. Stop limiting your health to only what you eat and how often you workout. While, those things are important those are not the only components.
Years ago I read James Allen’s book As a Man Thinketh and it proved to be a transformative read when it came to my thought-process. Proverbs 23:7 tells us, “As a man thinketh in his heart, so is he.” And this statement is applicable to ANY one – male or female, boy or girl, young or old. As we think in our heart, we are. If we think that we are healthy and we are taking action to be healthy, guess what we will begin to manifest – HEALTH! If we have a strong support system that encourages us, in moments of frustration they will be the push we need to keep going, thus contributing to our success and how we think about our health journey.
Remember that we are triune beings – spirit, soul, and body. Each aspect has to be in alignment for us to be our best selves. When we are aligned we become healthy – spiritually, emotionally, physically, relationally, and financially.
On a personal note: Because I am such a passionate person and want to see people operating in the best of who they are, I tend to take on more than I should in relationships. Lately, I have been assessing the balance in my relationships in order to have equivalence throughout my life. This has been an experience in and of itself because it challenges me to take a hard look at myself (first and foremost) and then those around me. This is not always easy but it is always necessary. I am thankful to be tuned in to Holy Spirit and aware so that I can be my best self. What steps are you taking to achieve overall health? Share in the comments or send me an e-mail.
