I don’t know about you but I have always loved Chance The Rapper. I think since the beginning I have always been a fan of his, and if you don’t know who he is PLEASE go do your research now. You clearly have been living under a rock.
On May 12 at 11pm EST Chance the Rapper dropped the long awaited Coloring Book mixtape. This mixtape is absolutely brilliant (in my opinion and everyone on my twitter timeline seems to agree). Chance really makes music that is perfect for having positive vibes and just feeling good. The entire time I was listening to the tape I was in such a good mood.
To be quite honest with you, this tape has me ready for the summer. I am insanely ready for late nights with my friends and riding around the city blasting music. Are you ready for the summer? Because I know I am.
On Coloring Book there’s upbeat songs like “All We Got” featuring artists like Kanye and the Chicago Children’s Choir. (Is anyone else in love with the fact that Chance is die hard for his city?) Then there’s songs that get a little sultry like Juke Jam featuring (my longtime boo) Justin Bieber. The icing on the cake is all the worship songs that Chance remixes, essentially, like “How Great” — which is originally by Chris Tomlin– and “Blessings,” the final song to close out the mixtape features an outro with Fred Hammond’s “Let The Praise Begin.”
There are other songs on Coloring Book with artists like Future, T-Pain (ain’t heard from him in a HOT MINUTE), Kirk Franklin, Young Thug, Lil Yachty, Jeremih, Lil Wayne, 2 Chainz, and so many others. He has a wide variety of songs featuring artists I never would really pick to make hits with Chance.
PERSONALLY, my favorites are (and not in any particular order):
- Juke Jam ft. Justin Bieber
- Smoke Break ft. Future
- Same Drugs
- Blessings
- No Problem ft. Lil Wayne & 2 Chainz
- Mixtape ft. Young Thug & Lil Yachty
But I think I could really just list the whole tracklist. All the songs individually have aspects that I love about them all. If you haven’t heard the mixtape listen now on Apple Music (but I’m pretty sure it’s everywhere by the time you read this).
CHANCE, I am ready for the summer time now! Thank you, dearly.
